Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica
Protecting Jaguars. Restoring Wild.
Las Oncas is a Costa Rica-based conservation organization dedicated to protecting jaguars and their rainforest habitat in the Osa Peninsula and Talamanca Mountain Range. Founded by conservationists with more than a decade of experience tracking jaguars in the wild, Las Oncas combines wildlife monitoring, scientific research, habitat protection, and rewilding to safeguard one of Costa Rica's most important ecosystems.
Beyond its conservation work, Las Oncas offers rare opportunities for travelers to join its field expeditions and experience wildlife conservation from the inside. Participants can explore remote rainforest areas alongside experienced expedition leaders, help track jaguar activity, check camera traps, and analyze wildlife footage while learning about the challenges of protecting Costa Rica's wildest landscapes.
With a 504-acre conservation reserve, an extensive camera-trap network, and a long-term focus on jaguar conservation, Las Oncas offers a truly immersive experience for travelers who want to go beyond observing wildlife and actively connect with the work being done to protect it.
