Swimming with Orcas
Valhalla Expedition is a specialist marine wildlife operator creating intimate expeditions focused on close encounters with whales, orcas, and the Arctic's extraordinary marine life. Their signature experiences take place in northern Norway, where guests stay in remote coastal camps and head out by RIB boats to observe and snorkel alongside wild orcas and humpback whales in their natural environment.
The experience goes far beyond traditional whale watching. Small groups, experienced crews, remote locations, and time spent both on and off the water create an immersive journey combining marine wildlife, Arctic landscapes, Northern Lights, and local Sami culture. Valhalla Expedition places strong emphasis on ethical wildlife encounters, maintaining safe distances, avoiding pursuit, and prioritizing the wellbeing of the animals.
The company also operates marine wildlife expeditions in Baja California, where guests can encounter a remarkable variety of species including whales, dolphins, sea lions, rays, whale sharks, and, with some luck, orcas. Across its destinations, Valhalla Expedition is designed for travelers looking for authentic, small-group wildlife experiences rather than conventional sightseeing tours.

These expeditions take place in remote Arctic waters and involve RIB boat travel and, on selected trips, entering the water near wild whales and orcas. Experienced expedition crews accompany guests throughout the experience and provide detailed safety instructions before all activities. Participants should be comfortable in open-water conditions, follow crew instructions at all times, and meet the tour's swimming and health requirements. Weather and sea conditions can change quickly, and activities may be adjusted or cancelled when conditions are considered unsafe.
