Six awesome days of adventure concentrating on seeing the rare black leopard! We are offering you the chance of a lifetime! Being in the presence of one of the rarest creatures on Earth – the melanistic (black) leopard is something you will always remember. The setting is in one of the remotest regions in Kenya so the numbers of humans around on any given day is very restricted. As are vehicle numbers. The only drivers permitted to do game drives here are the drivers employed by the camp. And there are strict rules around time spent with the cat to ensure she is not in any way stressed. So, this is a completely different experience but one not to be missed! Time spent within the camp area has a family feel to it where all guests sit around one big table to eat delicious food. Pre dinner the firepit is where we sit and relax and share our days events. Because our camp is exclusive, it is just our group who will be staying here. It’s a small camp dedicated to togetherness. Just an awesome place to stay!

Laikipia Wilderness Palm Camp is all about adventure. It stands in one of the remotest regions of Kenya. It has become famous for sightings of the melastic (black) leopard which has her territory right around the camp. These cats are extremely rare and you will be very privileged to see one. The most famous of all, Giza, was born and raised near the camp and is especially relaxed around the vehicles. She is a wild animal and can be unpredictable so there is, as with all wild animals, no guarantee of seeing her. Although, with a six day safari, the chances are favourable. There are at least three other black leopards seen in this conservancy. The number of vehicles (3) and the time spent with Giza is limited. We will, therefore, have a private Black Leopard Vehicle which will give us priority. The leopard is respected at all sightings and game drives seeing her can be ceased if it is seen she is under any stress or needs to hunt. Game drives to see her are restricted between 6 AM and 8 PM so that during night hours she is left to be a leopard.

Growing up on a farm in Arapohue, Northland, New Zealand, it was inevitable really that I would run around outside with bare feet. Even to this day I am not an indoors kind of person. The fresh air and sunshine is still my favourite space as I enjoy the wild places of Africa. My first journey to the African continent was in 2009 when I travelled overland through ten different countries. Since then, except in 2011, I have revisited annually and extended two more African countries within my visits. My horizons have broadened each time to include not only travel, but two volunteer wildlife conservation programs. My passion now lies with Kenya. Some years back I formed a Facebook page to show my wildlife photography. It grew to the stage where I was asked if I did safari tours. At that point, hosting tours had not entered my mind. After some thought, however, in 2014 I ventured off with a friend to see if I could do this. It was the beginning of where I am today. In 2015 I formed my own safari company specialising in handcrafted safari itineraries for people around the world. This has now gone on, through fine tuning those experiences and my own, into offering packages for those that prefer that option. When I’m not hosting safaris with guests, I am out doing my wildlife photography. My images have been recognised in numerous publications globally through two media companies I am involved with in England. I have been published in a magazine in India and I have also been chosen as a finalist in several international photography competitions. I have been featured in two New Zealand magazines plus two TV appearances. All of this centred on what I do in Africa, where I started and where I am today. I look forward to where this journey leads me!
