Day 1Welcome to Costa Rica & Your First Birding Experience

Upon arrival at Juan Santamaría International Airport, your private birding guide will welcome you and transfer you to Hotel Bougainvillea, a charming property surrounded by tropical gardens just outside San José. The gardens provide an excellent introduction to Costa Rica's birdlife, with species such as Great Kiskadee, Blue-gray Tanager, Hoffmann's Woodpecker, Lesson's Motmot, Lineated Woodpecker, and, with a little luck, the elusive Mottled Owl.
